On May 23 – 26, representatives from the Florida Ports Council, PortMiami, Port Tampa Bay, Port Manatee, Port Panama City, Port Everglades and the Port of Pensacola met with Mexican port officials and private operators to discuss future trade opportunities. A Memorandum of Understanding (English MOU) (Spanish MOU) was signed between Florida and Mexico, which outlines upcoming initiatives to increase trade.
“Waterways are the new trade highways. Meeting with Mexican port officials opens the doors to increasing Florida trade and job creation. Florida Ports have the capacity and infrastructure to continue to be the gateway to the Americas that both countries will find beneficial,” said Florida Ports Council President and CEO Doug Wheeler.
