International Day for Women in Maritime 2024
The IMO International Day for Women in Maritime is observed on 18 May every year.
In 2024, the theme for the Day is “Safe Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety”, which recognizes the crucial role women play in enhancing safety measures, whether through their roles as seafarers, maritime professionals, or in leadership positions.
Symposium
A symposium will take place under the same theme “Safe Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety”.

Place: IMO Headquarters, London

The symposium will be conducted in person, in all six official languages of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
Participation and registration
In-person participation in the event is open to representatives from Member States, observer organizations (intergovernmental and non-governmental) and the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
Delegates intending to participate are kindly requested to register via the Online Meeting Registration System (OMRS) by Wednesday, 15 May 2023.
