President’s Message: July 2024

Mike Rubin President & CEO

It’s been said that everything good, and everything magical happens between the months of June and August. And for Florida’s system of seaports, there are a lot of good things happening.

Joseph Morris has been named the new port director at Port Everglades, berth renovations on the Port Canaveral North Cargo Berth 4 are advancing nicely, and Ocean Network Express’s (ONE) new West India North America container service has begun calling on JAXPORT.

Critical commodities, like food, fuel and healthcare supplies, continue pouring into our seaports to provide Floridians with the products they need every day. In fact, Florida’s seaports are an essential supply chain leader in making sure Floridians, and our neighbors in Puerto Rica and the Caribbean, have food for their tables. For example, among SeaPort Manatee’s top five imports are fruit and vegetable juices, bananas and plantains. Food matters, and our ports are committed to making sure Floridians have it.

This is a message I’ll share later this month with transportation thought leaders at the 2024 Transportation Summer Camp. We’re seizing the opportunity to make Florida’s supply chain solutions, America’s seaport destination.
