Alex King Named Port Panama City Executive Director

A familiar face is taking control of Port Panama City. After 20 years services as the executive director of the port, Wayne Stubbs has retired, and Alex King, formerly the facility’s deputy director of cargo operations and business development, has taken the helm.

“I’m very, very proud of Alex, and it has been rewarding to see him grow and gain experience,” said Stubbs. “I just felt like the timing was right to retire and to help the Port Authority choose new leadership and move forward.”

King began working for the port in 2006 when he was hired as the assistant manager of terminal services. He stayed for about a year before leaving for a different job. King returned to the port in 2011 and has worked their ever since.

King’s promotion came after officials hired Alliance Resources Consulting Group to conduct a nationwide search to find Stubb’s replacement.

“There are tremendous shoes to fill,” King said. “Wayne has done a tremendous job with this port.”

King said his main focus will be to continue the forward momentum created by Stubbs, which will include building upon the port’s vibrant trade patterns with Mexico.
