The Panama City Port Authority has selected Alex King to serve as its next Port Director beginning June 1st.

The Panama City Port Authority has selected Alex King to serve as its next Port Director beginning June 1st. He will be replacing Wayne Stubbs, who is retiring after serving as the Port’s Executive Director for twenty years.

In November, the Port Authority Board retained Alliance Resources Consulting Group to lead the search for Mr. Stubbs’s replacement. This effort involved extensive review of over sixty applicants. Over the last few weeks, each board member interviewed three finalists for the position. At a Special Meeting on March 18th, the Board unanimously selected Alex King for the job.

Harvey Hollingsworth, Chairman of the Port Authority Board, said “After an intensive search, I am delighted that the best choice was from within the Port. I believe that Alex King is the right person to lead the Port of Panama City into the future. His first-hand knowledge of this Port will be very beneficial to build on the current Port growth and successes.”

Outgoing Port Director Wayne Stubbs added, “I am very happy that the Board chose Alex King as the next Port Director. Alex is someone who loves this community. He understands the value of the Port and will work hard to improve and expand the Port in the years ahead.”
