Hear what Port Tampa Bay Tenants, Trademark Metal Recycling, TECO and Puraglobe,  are recycling and how … it’s much more than paper, plastic and cans!

 

Tampa Bay Area Recycling Efforts

 

Tampa is the 3rd largest city in Florida and Hillsborough County ranks number 4.   And just as important, Hillsborough County is tied for the Number 1 spot in the state with a recycling rate of 82%.   Alita Kane, the Recycling Specialist with the City of Tampa and Travis Barnes, the Recycling Coordinator for Hillsborough County will discuss recycling efforts in the area and some of the challenges they face.

Florida Department of Environmental Protection Update  

 

Karen Moore, Florida Department of Environmental Protection will talk about how FDEP is working to increase Florida’s recycling rate.  Learn about upcoming plans and how you can be part of the plan

 

Artificial Reef Program

 

Tampa Bay and Pinellas County have used a variety of materials to make artificial reefs such as clean concrete and heavy gauge steel products, discarded pipes and even old sunken boats.  Learn how they determine which materials to use and how it is positively affecting the marine habitat in the area.
