Hurricane Michael update regarding Florida seaports

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the status of Port Panama City remains Open with Restrictions: Daylight Operations Only. All other deepwater seaports are open and fully operational.

Port conditions remain at Yankee for: Port Panama City and Port of Pensacola. All other deepwater seaports are open and fully operational.

The U.S. Coast Guard has set the following ports at port condition Whiskey: Port Panama City, Port of Pensacola. All other deepwater seaports are open and fully operational.

There are five Coast Guard sectors in Florida: Jacksonville Sector, Key West Sector, Miami Sector, St. Petersburg Sector, and Mobile (covers Pensacola and Panama City). The U.S. Coast Guard Captains of the Ports in Florida control both the waterside and landside operations and readiness conditions of each seaport in their sector.

Statuses include:

Seasonal Alert – An alert condition automatically set annually on June 1, which remains in effect through November 30.
Whiskey – A readiness condition in which hurricane force winds are possible within 72 hours.
X-Ray – A warning condition in which hurricane force winds are possible within 48 hours.
Yankee – A danger condition in which hurricane force winds are possible within 24 hours.
Zulu – A danger condition in which hurricane force winds are possible within 12 hours.

72 hours prior to sustained gale force winds of 39 mph plus (Whiskey), vessels 500 gross tons and above must make plans to depart the port no later than the setting of conditions Yankee. Waterside access to seaports will be restricted 48 hours prior to sustained gale force winds of 39 mph plus (X-ray). The port is closed to all inbound commercial traffic, and landside operations are restricted 24 hours prior (Yankee), and all landside and waterside operations are closed 12 hours prior (Zulu). Individual captains are allowed to grant exceptions to these rules based on conditions.
