PortMiami, Norwegian Cruise Line to Expand Parking Operations

PortMiami and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) recently announced that the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners has approved for NCLH to assume responsibility for the operations and maintenance of the existing Cruise Terminal B Garage, as well as the development of a new Multipurpose Parking Facility at PortMiami. This pivotal milestone underscores the commitment and partnership between Miami-Dade County and NCLH to address its growing passenger volumes and existing and future parking needs at PortMiami.

NCLH has also committed to increase its guaranteed passenger movements at PortMiami from an approximately 50 million to nearly 75 million passengers during the initial 30-year term of this agreement—an increase of ~25 million passengers over its existing commitment.

“This agreement highlights our strong and growing partnership with PortMiami,” said Dan Farkas, executive vice president, general counsel and chief development officer at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “With increased passenger commitments and new infrastructure management and development, we are ensuring that PortMiami continues to lead as a world-class hub for the cruise industry and a key driver of our local economy.”

“I want to thank Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings for their commitment to growing their passenger business while enhancing the customer experience at PortMiami,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “By collaborating with our valued partners and investing in future ready transportation projects, we are ensuring our global position as Cruise Capital of the World©.”

“Partnerships help businesses expand faster and more efficiently,” said Danielle Cohen Higgins, Chairwoman of PortMiami, Resiliency and Sustainability Committee, and Commissioner, District 8, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. “PortMiami’s partnerships are one of the reasons the seaport is so successful. By combining Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ and PortMiami’s resources, we can invest in infrastructure projects which will benefit the growing number of cruise customers.”

The new state-of-the-art Multipurpose Parking Facility will feature a minimum of 2,000 parking spaces and is scheduled for completion by Q4 2028.
