President’s Message: March 2025

Many of Florida’s seaports leaders just returned from the TPM2025 conference where they were actively engaged in economic development conversations to secure additional shipping lines and cargo into our ports.
Hosted by the Journal of Commerce, Port Everglades, JAXPORT, PortMiami and Port Tampa Bay attended the conference and held meetings with a variety of leaders from CITY Furniture, Rooms To Go, Quality Container Transport, Inc., GLOVIS America, CMA CGM and others, in our overall efforts to encourage shipping lines to change lanes and set sail for a Florida seaport.
The Florida Ports Councils strategy of encouraging businesses and shipping lines to Seas the Opportunities at a Florida seaport was on display throughout the conference, and shared with industry executives and leaders who participated in our Florida-themed reception that provided additional opportunities for Florida port leaders to hold one-on-one conversations with business executives.
A very special thanks to all port leaders that were able to attend TPM2025.
Now back in Florida, port leaders are actively engaged in the ongoing legislative session, and will converge on Tallahassee March 25-27, to meet with lawmakers and attend the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development (FSTED) spring meeting, as well as the Florida Ports Councils Legislative Forum.
Be sure to finalize your travel plans to Tallahassee, we look forward to seeing you in Tallahassee.
